M25 Closed After Car Hits Central Reservation
A major crash has shut the M25 anticlockwise near Godstone in Surrey. The smash happened just before Junction 6, causing chaos on Thursday evening. Police enforced a full lane closure at 7.15pm, bringing traffic to a halt.
Emergency teams swarmed the scene, including Surrey’s paramedics, police, and fire crews. The collision involved a car that smashed into the central reservation, leaving several people with life-changing injuries.
Nightmare Traffic and Lengthy Delays
Hundreds of drivers have been stuck in the gridlock, some trapped for nearly two hours. Surrey Police have launched a full collision investigation as the situation remains critical.
A spokesman for Highways England confirmed a diversion route is now in place to ease the standstill.

- Exit the M25 at Junction 8 (Reigate) and follow signs marked with a yellow square.
- Travel south along the A217 through Reigate.
- Turn left onto the A25 heading towards Redhill, then left again onto the A23 towards Gatwick.
- At the roundabout with the A25, turn left towards Godstone.
- Follow the A25 through Godstone back to the M25 junction.
Update: Partial Lanes May Reopen, But Delays Continue
At 10.18pm, attempts were underway to open two lanes past the wreck. However, progress was slowed by a broken-down vehicle on site. Police warn the closure will likely remain until at least 1am Friday.
