Walker Rescued After Being Cut Off by Tide Near Dover

A quick-thinking lifeboat crew and two coastguard teams pulled a walker to safety after they were trapped by the rising tide on Saturday lunchtime.

Emergency Call-Out to Dover Beach

Walmer RNLI was scrambled around 12.30pm to assist volunteer coastguard search and rescue teams at Dover and Deal. The walker had been caught when the incoming tide flooded creeks, cutting off their escape route.

Cold and Wet But Thankfully Unharmed

The teams worked together to rescue the stranded walker. While the lifeboat provided safety cover offshore, the coastguard crews reached the walker on foot. Described as “cold and wet,” the individual was safely brought back to shore and – luckily – needed no medical attention.

Close Call Thanks to Mild Weather

Rescuers warned the outcome could have been much worse if the weather wasn’t so unseasonably mild for the time of year.
