Warwick Davis Touches Down on Isle of Wight for Scout Meet-and-Greet!

From Hollywood to Hovercrafts

Warwick Davis, famed for his role in Harry Potter and currently filming the “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” sequel alongside Angelina Jolie, flew in fresh from the States to meet 66 scouts on the Isle of Wight. Despite a hectic schedule, the actor and Tenable presenter took time out as the newly appointed Scout Ambassador to inspire local youth.

Hovercraft Adventure with Lady Grylls’ Invite

Invited by Lady Grylls, mother of adventurer Bear Grylls, Warwick arrived at the Hovertravel terminal in Ryde. There, he met scouts from 23 different troupes and hopped onboard a hovercraft as part of their Air Activities – Flight Badge training. The star got a hands-on lesson in how these unique vessels work, even exploring the cockpit and engine bay.

From Scout Days to Ambassador

“It’s hard to say no when he’s dangling you a hundred feet in the air,” joked Warwick, recalling Bear Grylls’ challenge that led to his ambassador role. Their connection began last year during filming of Warwick’s show “Bear’s Mission” where scouting came up.

Warwick also presented a bravery award to scout Dylan Reeves and posed for photos before a planned demonstration flight around the Solent was cancelled due to windy weather.

New Discounts for Scouts on the Horizon

Loretta Lale, Hovertravel’s head of commercial, revealed this special event marks a new partnership with the Scouts Association. From now on, all Scouts, Beavers, and Cubs – plus their volunteers – will get discounted travel fares.

“We’re proud this charter helps Scouts earn their Air Activities – Flight Badge,” she said.

Warwick’s visit is a boost for young adventurers ready to take on new challenges and earn their wings – all under the watchful eye of a true Hollywood hero!
