Six Fire Engines Battle Blaze on Canal Boat

Six fire engines and 25 firefighters rushed to tackle a fierce fire that tore through a canal barge near Gilding Way in Southall. The boat was gutted by the flames, leaving nothing but charred wreckage behind.

Woman Escapes, Taken to Hospital

One woman managed to flee the burning boat before firefighters arrived. Paramedics from the Ambulance Service treated her at the scene and rushed her to hospital.

Firefighters Cool Dangerous Cylinders

Crews also worked quickly to cool two gas cylinders on board to safe temperatures, preventing a potential explosion. The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers handled 13 emergency calls about the fire.

Fire Under Control After Two Hours

The fire service was alerted at 1:42pm, with flames brought under control by 3:51pm. Firefighters from Southall, Hayes, Feltham, Acton, and nearby stations teamed up to tackle the blaze.

Investigation Into Cause Underway

The cause of the devastating fire remains unknown. Authorities have launched an investigation to find out what sparked the blaze.
