Tragic Teen Jay Slater Found Dead in Tenerife Mountains
The mother of 19-year-old Jay Slater, who vanished during a Tenerife trip and was later found dead near Masca village, has issued an emotional plea for help to fund his funeral.
Mother’s Heartfelt Plea for Support
Debbie Duncan wants to give Jay “the send-off he deserves” and urged the public to “continue to share and support our fundraiser however you can.”
Last Moments of Jay’s Fateful Journey
- Jay was last seen leaving a music festival in Playa de las Americas, heading towards the mountainous Masca region.
- His friend Lucy Law spoke to him on the morning he went missing; Jay said he was lost, thirsty, and running low on phone battery.
- He planned to walk an 11-hour trek from northern Tenerife back to his holiday base in Los Cristianos.
Grief and Gratitude from Family
Ms Duncan said, “I can’t believe this could happen to my beautiful boy.” She thanked all who have offered kindness and support during the devastating ordeal.
She also praised the Dutch search team, Signi Zoekhonden, for their help and LBT Global for their ongoing support. “We are working with agencies to arrange Jay’s repatriation to the UK,” she added.
“Remaining and future fundraiser donations will cover repatriation and funeral expenses. Please keep sharing and supporting so we can honour Jay with the farewell he deserves.”
