£20 Million Boost for Over 50 “Forgotten” UK Towns
The government is set to inject a whopping £20 million each into more than 50 overlooked British towns over the next decade. The cash is aimed at revitalising run-down high streets and tackling anti-social behaviour head-on.
Who’s Getting the Cash?
A total of 55 towns across the UK will share the funding pot. That’s 44 in England, seven in Scotland, and four in Wales. Towns like Mansfield, Boston, Worksop, Newark-on-Trent, Chesterfield, Skegness, and Clacton-on-Sea are all on the list.
Targeting Real Need
The government says the funding targets places based on skills levels, pay, health, and deprivation to ensure it helps those who need it most. This initiative forms part of a wider strategy to breathe new life into struggling communities and boost quality of life.
“By focusing on skills development, jobs and community wellbeing, we aim to deliver real, lasting change,” says government officials.
With anti-social behaviour rising in neglected areas, this investment couldn’t come at a better time for these towns desperate for a fresh start.
