Fake Italian Drug Dealer Busted After Language Slip-Up
Driver Claims Italian Identity to Dodge Police
Endrion Marfana thought he could fool police by claiming he was Italian during a stop on Longfield Road. But when officers called in a translator, Marfana couldn’t understand a word – instantly blowing his cover.
Caught Red-Handed with Cocaine and False Identity
On 2 December 2022, Marfana was stopped driving a Skoda Octavia. He gave a fake name that matched the car’s registered owner and insisted he was from Italy. However, after a search, cops found eight wraps of 1-2-3 drug substance on him.
Quick Justice at Maidstone Crown Court
The 21-year-old, from Barnetts Close, Tunbridge Wells, pleaded guilty. On 1 February, he was sentenced to one year and eight months behind bars. He also lost the seized cash and picked up six points on his driving licence.
Police Praise Sharp Investigation
PC Chris Clancy of the Tunbridge Wells Neighbourhood Task Force said: “Marfana sought to give false details, but his lies quickly unravelled when he could not understand a single word the Italian interpreter was saying on the phone. We soon established he was in fact Albanian, and the messages on his phone were consistent with a drug dealing system, using postcodes, by an organised crime group.”
