One Critically Wounded in West Bank Shooting Near Illegal Settlement
Israeli emergency services report at least one person critically injured in a shooting near the Kedumim settlement in the occupied West Bank. The attacker opened fire on security forces who had stopped to check a suspicious vehicle on Thursday. The gunman fled but was later tracked down and “neutralised” by Israeli troops.
Security Guard Targeted in Attack
Israel’s public broadcaster, Kan, confirmed the attacker fired at an Israeli security guard near the settlement. The shooter’s identity remains unknown.
Attack Follows Deadly Israeli Military Operation in Jenin
The shooting comes days after a brutal two-day Israeli offensive in the Jenin refugee camp. The Palestinian Ministry of Health says 12 Palestinians were killed, including three children. Another 120 were wounded, with 20 in critical condition. Around 3,000 residents were forced from their homes amid aerial and ground assaults.
Hamas Hails Attack as Retaliation
Hamas, the rulers of Gaza, praised the shooting as a direct response to the Israeli raid in Jenin.
Violence Escalates After Tel Aviv Car-Ramming Attack
Earlier this week, a separate Palestinian attacker in Tel Aviv launched a car-ramming and stabbing spree, wounding seven before being shot dead by an armed civilian.
