Dickson Ndiema, charged with the brutal murder of Ugandan Olympian Rebecca Cheptegei, has died in hospital. Ndiema passed away Monday night at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret, Kenya, after suffering severe burns over 30% of his body. He had been in intensive care following the shocking attack.

The horrific blaze that killed Cheptegei reportedly began as a land dispute between the former partners. Ndiema allegedly doused the marathon runner in petrol and set her alight, causing fatal injuries. Cheptegei died last Thursday, just weeks after competing at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where she finished 44th and was hailed as a rising athletics star in Uganda.
