Met Police Smash Massive Drug Gang Running Cocaine Pipeline into London

The Met Police have cracked a huge drug trafficking ring, stopping dangerous Class A drugs flooding London’s streets. After three years of relentless investigations, officers pieced together the group’s movements and disrupted their deadly cocaine pipeline.

£8.8 Million Worth of Cocaine Seized

Between May and August 2020, the gang made 19 major drug importations, flooding London with cocaine valued at a staggering £8.8 million on the street.

Specialist Met detectives used extensive CCTV footage alongside cracking encrypted communications on the infamous EncroChat network to track and link the gang’s criminal activities. The brothers Jonathan and Nicholas Lynn were key players, coordinating the importation of cocaine from Lithuania, smuggled in on HGV lorries.

12 Sentenced as Met Cracks Down on Organised Crime

The Met’s hard work has led to 12 criminals being jailed over the operation. Ten have already been sentenced, with two more—Jonathan Lynn and Nicholas Lynn—locked up recently at Kingston Crown Court.

  • Jonathan Lynn, 41, handed 15 years and 3 months in prison.
  • Nicholas Lynn, 35, received 18 years and 8 months.

Jonathan was caught abroad in Spain thanks to a European arrest warrant, while Nicholas was arrested previously in Kent.

Detectives Warn This Fight Isn’t Over

Detective Inspector Lydia Stephens: “This investigation is a powerful example of the Met’s commitment to dismantling organised crime from top to bottom. These vast quantities of cocaine were destined for our communities, and we’re proud to have taken them off our streets. Drugs and violence go hand in hand—we will keep hunting those who threaten the safety of Londoners.”

Detective Constable Leon Ure: “This success came from a huge team effort across multiple units. Without everyone’s dedication and professionalism, these significant sentences wouldn’t be possible. We remain focused on keeping London safe by removing dangerous criminals.”

The Met’s Mission Continues

As part of the New Met for London initiative, the force is zeroing in on community crime-fighting, ensuring Londoners feel safe in their own neighbourhoods.
