UAE Man Jailed 6 Years for Sex with Teen in Brighton Hotel

Alarming Crime Uncovered in Seafront Hotel

A 21-year-old man from the United Arab Emirates has been locked up for six years after admitting to illegal sex with a teenage girl in a Brighton hotel. Hamdan Alshamsi pleaded guilty at Lewes Crown Court on March 25 to three counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child.

Alshamsi, who has no fixed address, contacted the vulnerable teen online before flying to the UK. He booked a hotel room on Brighton’s seafront on December 27, fully aware of the girl’s age. The teenager travelled from home to meet him, where the offences took place.

Desperate Police Search Saves Victim

Authorities launched an urgent and thorough search after worries for the girl’s safety. Police scoured the seafront and hotel premises, ultimately finding the victim unharmed inside and placing her under police protection with specialist support.

Alshamsi was caught red-handed in the hotel spa. A room search uncovered condoms and vodka, pointing to premeditation.

Detective Praises Police Response and Victim’s Bravery

“This was a distressing case which showed the lengths Alshamsi was prepared to go to engage in sexual activity with a young teenage girl. She was vulnerable, and he exploited her trust,” said Detective Inspector Sean Booth of the Safeguarding Investigations Unit.

He applauded the “extended seafront search and meticulous hotel search” that ensured the victim’s safety and rapid arrest of the offender.

DI Booth also thanked the courageous victim and her family for supporting the police investigation, describing the offences’ lasting impact on her life.

Police Urge Victims to Speak Out

Police are now calling on anyone affected by child sexual exploitation or sexual offences to come forward. They promise serious action and relentless pursuit of offenders to protect the vulnerable.
