Five People taken to Hospital following Chemical incident at Warblington School in Havant

Emergency services have dealt with a chemical incident at Warblington School in Havant resulting in five people being taken to hospital.

Police, fire and ambulance where called to the school in Southleigh Road along with a Hazard Area Response team  being supported by a Detection Identification and Monitoring Unit (DIM) from Winchester.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Fire and Rescue said that they were called at 9.54 this morning and sent a number of resources to the scene. The fire service have said that they where called after the smell of a chemical.Three adults and one teenage has been taken to hospital for check ups none has been overcome by the fumes 

A cordon has been put in place whilst fire crews work with police to identify the chemical.
The school have issued a statement stating :

There has been an incident at the school. The emergency services are in attendance and investigating a smell. There are no chemicals involved and students and staff are safe in the Sports Hall. There are five people who have been affected, three teachers and two children and their parents have been contacted individually. Parents are respectfully requested not to attend the school and we will update this message when we have further information.
