Man brutalised and robbed on infamous Portsmouth street
Police hunt witnesses after a 41-year-old man was attacked and mugged in Portsmouth’s Fratton area. The violent robbery happened on Shearer Road between 7.15pm and 8pm on Friday, October 14 – the same street where a man was stabbed and a young girl was hammered in recent outrages.
Vicious assault leaves victim battered
The victim was set upon by three men who punched and kicked him mercilessly. He suffered a fractured cheekbone and a nasty cut to his hand, requiring hospital treatment.
Thieves make off with phone and cash
The attackers stole the man’s mobile phone and £40 in cash before vanishing into the night.
Police plead for public help
Detective Constable Sharon Lewry of Fratton CID said: “Were you in the Shearer Road area between 7pm and 8pm on Friday night? Did you see what happened? I would also like the people who came out of The Shearer Arms and the Shearer Road Shop to help the injured man to come forward. They may hold vital information about what happened.”
If you have any information, contact Fratton CID immediately. Police are desperate to catch the thugs responsible for this nasty attack.
