£2 Million Diamond Heist: Police Hunt Croatian Thief at Chelsea Art Fair
Police are on the hunt for Vinko Osmakcic, a Croatian crook linked to the daring theft of three rings worth over £2 million. The jewels were snatched from a display cabinet during the 2017 Masterpiece art fair at the Royal Hospital Chelsea.
Audacious Theft at Busy Chelsea Event
The robbery happened around 5:30pm on 4 July 2017 at Royal Hospital Road, SW3. Osmakcic is suspected of masterminding this bold daylight smash-and-grab amid the bustling art crowd.
International Diamond Thief With Multiple Aliases
Detective Sergeant Chris Taylor, heading the Kensington and Chelsea CID probe, warned that Osmakcic is highly likely to have fled the UK and could be hiding somewhere in Europe. The suspect may also be known as Vinko Tomic or Juro Markelic.
“This was a well-planned and audacious theft committed in the middle of a busy art fair. We are re-releasing the image of Mr Osmakcic in an attempt to trace him.”
