Hit and Run Probe launched in Deptford after Cyclist Mowed Down

Detectives are appealing for information after a cyclist died following a ‘hit and run’ collision in Deptford. Police were called to Childers Street junction with Rolt Street, SE8 at 4.14pm on Sunday, 3 June following reports of a road traffic collision. Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a man aged in his fifties suffering from critical injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police continue in efforts to inform his next-of-kin. The vehicle involved in the collision, a silver B Class Mercedes, was found abandoned at the scene. The driver left the car following the fatal collision and has made off. Concerted efforts to trace him continue. Local road closures are in effect following the collision. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit have launched a full investigation and are appealing for anyone witnesses or those who have information to get in touch.
