Man assaulted and taken to hospital in Southampton

Police in Southampton are appealing for a key witness to come forward as part of a assault investigation. It was reported to police that between 2.50am and 2.55am on Saturday 12 May, two men were involved in an altercation outside Leisure World, during which one of the men was knocked unconscious. This man suffered serious but not life-threatening head injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains at this time. Officers would like to talk to a woman who spoke to both men and also helped the victim after the assault, as she will have witnessed the incident. A 21-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm and has been bailed until 7 June.
