Emergency crews called to Tennyson Down Rescue on the Isle of Wight

Police and Coastguard Rescue Teams from The Needles and Ventnor along with the Freshwater lifeboat have dealt with an incident at Tennyson Down near Freshwater late last night (Tuesday). Police were called to Watcombe Bay just after 9.30pm who called on the assistant of the coastguard after a person needed rescuing from a 400 metre point. Coastguard officers extracted a casualty who was carried to an awaiting ambulance located on the main road. Freshwater Independent Lifeboat was also tasked to the inciden. The volunteer crew were placed on standby for an immediate launch. They were stood down at just gone 22:30. Hampshire Constabulary have been approached for a statement.
