Man attacked in Plaistow Park has died say Police

A man who was assaulted in Plaistow Park has died. Police were called at approximately 11:35am on Thursday, 30 May, to reports of a man assaulted in Plaistow Park, E13. Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and the man, aged 61, was taken to an east London hospital with a serious head injury. He died at the hospital on Sunday, 2 June. The man’s next of kin are aware. Although formal identification has not taken place, the man can be named as Steven Kennedy, 61 of Plaistow. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course. The investigation is being led by detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command. Detective Chief Inspector Paul Considine, who leads the investigation, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the park at the time and who might have seen the incident or events leading up to it. “Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could help us move forward with our investigation.” Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room on 020 8345 3865. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Two men have been arrested, one of whom has been charged with GBH and appeared in court prior to the victim’s death. Enquiries are ongoing.
