A G4S driver who stole £1million has been jailed

A G4S driver who stole £1million from the cash-in-transit vehicle he was driving has been jailed. Joel March, 36 ( of Rectory Grove, SW4 was sentenced to four years and four months’ imprisonment at Inner London Crown Court today, Friday 26 July. He previously pleaded guilty to theft and concealing criminal property at Camberwell Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 25 April. The court heard how police were called at approximately 1900hrs on Tuesday, 23 April to reports of theft of cash deposit boxes from a cash-in-transit vehicle. Officers attended Larkhall Rise in Clapham where the vehicle was parked. There was no sign of forced entry. An investigation was launched by the Met’s Flying Squad and March was arrested at approximately 1500hrs the following day in a flat in Keats House, SE5. A total of £28,600 was recovered from within the room he was arrested in. Detectives continue to investigate to locate the stolen cash. DI Jason Barber, who is leading the investigation, said: “March abused his position of trust through greed. His sentence today does not end our investigation, my officers continue to work hard to locate the stolen cash in order to repay every penny back to G4S. March will not benefit from this offence. “I would like to directly appeal to anyone who is aware of the whereabouts of this cash to come forward. I want to be absolutely clear that anyone who benefits from the stolen cash will be fully investigated and may risk prosecution.
