G4S Driver Jailed for Stealing £1 Million from Cash Truck
A G4S driver has been locked up after nicking a staggering £1 million from the cash-in-transit vehicle he was meant to be driving. Joel March, 36, from Rectory Grove, SW4, was sentenced to four years and four months behind bars at Inner London Crown Court on Friday, 26 July.
The Heist Uncovered
March had already pleaded guilty to theft and concealing criminal property at Camberwell Magistrates’ Court back in April. The alarm was raised after police were called at around 7pm on Tuesday, 23 April, about stolen cash deposit boxes from the armoured van parked on Larkhall Rise, Clapham.
Curiously, there were no signs of forced entry on the vehicle, raising suspicion immediately.
Swift Police Action and Arrest
The Met’s elite Flying Squad launched a fast-moving probe. Officers arrested March the next day at 3pm in a flat on Keats Street, SE5. Inside, they recovered £28,600 hidden in the room where he was caught.
Hunt for Missing Millions Ongoing
“March abused his position of trust through greed,” said DI Jason Barber, leading the investigation. “His sentence today does not end our investigation. Officers are working hard to find the stolen cash and ensure every penny is returned to G4S. March will not benefit from this crime.”
“I am appealing directly to anyone who knows where the missing cash is to come forward now. Anyone seen benefiting from the stolen money will face a full investigation and possible prosecution.”
