Man Stabbed in Chest Outside Birchington Christmas Light Switch-On

A bloody drama unfolded in the usually quiet village of Birchington, Kent, after a man was stabbed in the chest on Sunday afternoon.

Stabbing Shocks Peaceful Kent Village

The shocking attack happened just yards from the annual Christmas street light switch-on event on Station Road, Birchington, a village home to around 10,000 residents. The incident occurred at about 2.30pm, disrupting the festive cheer.

Armed Police and Dogs Descend on Scene

Armed officers and police dog handlers swiftly arrived at Crescent Road, where the victim was stabbed amid what neighbours say was a dispute over payment for work done. The road was sealed off at both ends as crime scene investigators scoured the area, including examining a bloodied grey T-shirt found nearby.

Property Vandalised in Violent Spat

The front window of number 17 Crescent Road was smashed, and the upstairs blinds were torn, raising questions about the severity of the confrontation. Police remain guarding the property.

Victim Airlifted to London Hospital

Kent Police confirmed the victim suffered a stab wound and was airlifted to a London hospital. One man has been arrested and is in custody. Extra patrols are in place, though officers say they are not actively seeking other suspects at this time.

“Kent Police was called at around 2pm to reports of a disturbance in Crescent Road, Birchington,” said a spokesperson. “Officers attended where a man had suffered an injury consistent with a stab wound. Police remain at the scene carrying out enquiries to determine the circumstances of the incident.”
