Newborn Baby Found Abandoned in Hackney Street

Police are urgently appealing for the mother of a newborn baby found abandoned in Hackney to come forward. The infant was discovered in Sandringham Road, E8, at around 11.40am on Saturday, 25 January.

Baby Boy Found Wrapped in Blanket

A member of the public alerted officers to the abandoned white baby boy. He was dressed in a grey babygrow and hat, wrapped snugly in a white knitted blanket. Ambulance crews attended the scene, and the baby is now receiving care at an East London hospital.

Mother Urged to Contact Authorities for Help

Police believe the baby was born outside a hospital setting. Inspector Kevin Weeks from the Central East Command Unit made a direct plea to the mother:

“I would urge the mother of this baby to make contact either with police, your local hospital or GP surgery and let us know that you are safe and can receive any medical care you may need. Our primary focus is to ensure the wellbeing of both you and your child.”

“I would also urge anyone who has information that could help us to reunite this baby with his mother to come forward.”
