Woman arrested on suspicion of killing a sheep

An investigation into the killing of a sheep near Gravesend has resulted in a woman being arrested in connection with the offence.

Officers from the Rural Taskforce appealed for information after the deceased ewe, which was in lamb, was found on farmland in a field off Betsham Road, Southfleet, at around 7am on Sunday 29 March.

A lamb was also reported to have been stolen from the same field on Friday 27 March.

The injuries sustained by the ewe led officers to believe that the animal had been killed deliberately.

At around midnight on 6 April officers arrested a woman in her 30’s in Bean Lane, Greenhithe, on suspicion of motoring offences and offences relating to the ewe.

The woman, who is from Bean, has been released pending further enquiries.
