Suspected Burglar Busted After Early Morning Raid in Maidstone

A suspected burglar has been charged following a spree of break-ins and fraud in Maidstone, Kent.

Break-In and Theft on Tonbridge Road

Kent Police were called after an attempted break-in and theft from a garden shed on Tonbridge Road in the early hours of 29 March 2020.

Stolen Bank Card Used to Fuel Fraud Spree

That same morning, reports emerged of a man using a stolen bank card, taken from a car on Tonbridge Road, to make purchases at a petrol station on London Road and a newsagent on Upper Fant Road. He also allegedly used the card to pay for two taxi rides.

Jason Higgins Arrested and Charged

On 15 April, Jason Higgins, 49, from Milton Street, Maidstone, was arrested by investigators. He now faces charges including burglary, attempted burglary, theft, and five counts of fraud.

Higgins was released on conditional bail and is set to appear at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on 15 May.
