Hythe Drug Dealer Caught with Weapons and Cocaine – Jailed for Six Years
A Hythe-based drug dealer has been locked up for six years after police found him with weapons, cocaine, cannabis, and a stack of cash.
Arrest in Folkestone
On Friday 28 February 2020, officers from Folkestone’s Community Policing Team pulled over Steven Rimmer’s VW Golf in the Cheriton area. A search of the car revealed significant quantities of cocaine and cannabis, a large amount of cash, and a Stanley knife.
Stun Guns Seized After Hotel Search
Further digging uncovered Rimmer was staying at a nearby hotel. Police raided his room and seized two stun guns, adding to the growing list of weapons found in his possession.
Serious Charges Lead to Jail Time
The 31-year-old, from Frampton Road, pleaded guilty to possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply, possession of two prohibited weapons, possession of a bladed article, and possession of a Class B drug.
At Canterbury Crown Court on 23 April 2020, he was sentenced to six years behind bars.
“The actions of officers on the day and the thorough investigation that followed have led to Rimmer receiving a considerable sentence,” said Detective Constable Luke Thomson, Kent Police’s lead investigator. “Kent Police will use every means at our disposal to take drug dealers like Rimmer off the county’s streets and dismantle the networks they use to bring misery to drug users and the wider community.”
