Police Launch Armed Response in Brighton After Man Found with Suspected Gun
Armed cops and a police helicopter swooped on a flat on Upper Lewes Road, Brighton, after safety concerns sparked a serious response at 1.40pm on Monday, 21 September.
But when officers arrived, the property was empty. The man they were looking for was later tracked down on nearby London Road.
Man Arrested After Resisting Cops and Allegedly Assaulting Officer
Held on suspicion of firearm possession, the man put up a fight, resisting arrest and reportedly assaulting a police officer. He is now locked up in custody.
Meanwhile, police found a suspected firearm back at the flat. The assaulted officer suffered minor injuries.
Upper Lewes Road Reopens After Dramatic Police Operation
The road was shut during the tense incident but has now reopened. Chief Inspector Roy Hodder said:
“We would like to thank the public for their patience while we worked to resolve the incident.”
