Two people have been arrested for firearm and drugs offences following early morning raids in east London and Essex.
Officers who carried out warrants at addresses in Newham, Dagenham and Essex on Tuesday, 13 October, have arrested two men following the seizure of four firearms, ammunition, a kilo of cocaine and approximately £50,000 in cash.
At 04:40hrs, officers from the Met’s Specialist Crime South executed warrants at several residential addresses with support from the Territorial Support Group (TSG), following an intelligence-led operation linking the suspects to drug and firearm supply offences.
The suspects are believed to have been working as part of an organised crime group (OCG).
During the operation, officers seized a kilo of cannabis at an address in Albany Heights in Grays. They also found around 30 cannabis plants growing in at loft on Shafter Road in Dagenham and equipment required for keyless car thefts (a scanner/jammer), a zombie knife and a sword concealed in a walking cane.
At another address on Varley Road in Newham, around £10,000 in cash was seized. Searches are ongoing at a further address.
Two men aged in their 30s were arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs and conspiracy to possess firearms.
Both suspects are currently in custody at a south London police station.
Detective Superintendent Steve Ellen, from the Met’s Specialist Crime South team, said: “The warrants this morning further show our commitment to tackling drug supply and the violent crime that is inextricably linked to it.”
