The CPS has given the green light for the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) to charge West Midlands Police officer Declan Jones with three counts of common assault. The alleged attacks took place between 20 and 23 April 2020.
Serious Allegations Under the Spotlight
The decision follows a thorough review of the evidence presented by the IOPC. The Crown Prosecution Service warns that criminal proceedings against PC Jones are now active.
Fair Trial Warning Issued
The CPS stressed: “It is extremely important there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.” Jones retains the right to a fair trial as the case moves forward.
