Champagne thief sparks vicious attack in Barkingside shop

On Sunday, 13 December 2020, a man stole four bottles of champagne from a supermarket on Cranbrook Road, Barkingside. But the drama didn’t stop there.

Shocking attack inside the shop

As he tried to make his escape between 2pm and 2.15pm, the thug launched a brutal assault on three staff members and a security guard. One worker was stabbed, while another was left with a broken nose in the shocking unprovoked attack.

Police hunt suspect caught on CCTV

Detective Constable Mohammed Abdullah of the Met’s East Area Command said: “The CCTV images of the suspect are very clear, and I would like help in identifying this man.”

Community left shaken

DC Abdullah added: “The vicious and unprovoked attack has had a profound impact on members of staff at the shop and shocked the local community.”
