Man Caught With £6,000 Stash in Car

A 29-year-old Bristol man was arrested after border officers found £6,000 in his car that he couldn’t explain. He is suspected of removal of criminal property but has since been released while investigations continue. Police also uncovered a suspected stolen motorcycle during their checks.

Flashback: £60,000 and £50,000 Cash Finds in Days

  • On 18 March, two East Sussex men aged 42 and 36 were stopped at the Channel Tunnel in Folkestone. Officers found sealed packets of cash amounting to around £60,000. Both were arrested but later released pending inquiries.
  • Two Ipswich men, aged 34 and 44, were stopped at Dover on 16 March with £50,000 in unexplained cash. Both were released pending further checks.

Cash Hidden in Shampoo Bottle

Officers found £5,000 stuffed inside a shampoo bottle wrapped in plastic during a vehicle search on 14 March. The 32-year-old London man arrested was later released pending further enquiries.

Police Crack Down on Organised Crime Cash

“We are treating these as separate incidents, but substantial enquiries remain ongoing,” said Detective Sergeant Matt Whitlock. “Our officers and partners will keep policing the border to disrupt organised criminals trying to hide their assets.”
