County Lines Drug Crackdown Nets 43 Arrests in Devon and Cornwall
Police have launched a blitz across Devon and Cornwall targeting ruthless county lines drug gangs. Over a nationwide week of action, officers hunted down dealers exploiting vulnerable adults and children as drug runners. The operation smashed open gangs spreading poison on the streets.
Safeguarding the Vulnerable
County lines gangs use mobile phones and social media to push drugs, forcing vulnerable people to ferry drugs and cash between towns. Police teams hit schools and hotspots with high visibility patrols and educational visits. They also uncovered homes taken over by dealers in a sinister practice called ‘cuckooing’.
“A significant part of county lines drug dealing is around the exploitation of the vulnerable and that is a key focus for us,” said Inspector Ryan Northmore.
During the week, 68 vulnerable people were safeguarded and 10 cuckooed addresses visited. Officers referred many to drug treatment and community safety programmes in a bid to break the cycle of exploitation.

- 43 people arrested for possession with intent to supply, importation of banned substances, weapon possession, and drug-driving.
- Class A and B drugs seized, worth an estimated £35,465.
- Nearly £11,000 in cash confiscated.
