Shock Video Shows Woman Hitting Horse in Rutland
A disturbing clip has emerged online showing a woman striking a horse after it cantered onto a road. The incident involves a woman allegedly linked to the Cottesmore Hunt, a foxhound pack based in Rutland. The footage was shared on Sunday by Hertfordshire Hunt Saboteurs, a prominent anti-hunting group.
Hunting Office Slams Incident, Demands High Animal Welfare
The Hunting Office condemned the woman’s actions, stating it “expects the highest level of animal welfare at all times – both on and off the hunting field.” They added the individual shown is not part of any hunting association and their behaviour is completely unacceptable.
The Cottesmore Hunt also weighed in, saying it “did not condone the actions shown in the video under any circumstances.” They promised to remind all supporters that such conduct “will not be tolerated.”
RSPCA Launches Investigation, Calls for Witnesses
The RSPCA confirmed it is “always investigating complaints” about animal welfare and urged anyone with further information on the video to come forward. The hunt saboteurs described the footage as “shocking,” while local observers called it “upsetting.”
