Shock as Elderly Woman Targeted in Luton Distraction Burglary
Police have launched a chase for a man caught on CCTV after an 80-year-old woman was conned and robbed in her own home.
Jet Wash Ruse Leads to Burglary
The victim was duped on Monday 13 June at around 2.30pm on Edgewood Drive, Luton. A man posing as a driveway cleaner offered to jet wash her drive — then let himself inside her house.
He stole her bank card and quickly ran up a series of transactions before her bank raised the alarm.
Police Urge Locals to Help Catch Culprit
Detective Constable Jason Wheeler called the crime “disgusting,” targeting a vulnerable elderly woman in her own home.
“I’d like to ask anyone who was in the area between 2 and 3 p.m. and saw anything suspicious to come forward.”
Police have released a CCTV image of the suspect and want to speak to him urgently. They believe he could hold the key to cracking the case.
