Ongoing Investigation by Met Police
The Met Police launched their probe after receiving a complaint in January 2020 relating to alleged offences dating back to between 2002 and 2009. The investigation is being handled by officers from Central Specialist Crime.
Bail Extended Until August
Following his arrest, the MP was initially bailed until mid-June. However, police have now extended his bail until mid-August as enquiries continue.
“In January 2020, the Met received a report relating to alleged sexual offences committed between 2002 and 2009,” the Met said on May 17. “He was taken into custody and has since been bailed pending further enquiries.” The bail extension was confirmed today.
