Deadly Attack at Dover Home Office Centre Sparks Terror Probe

Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) has taken over from Kent Police in investigating a shocking incident at a Home Office centre in Dover. The alarming event unfolded at around 11:20am on Sunday, 30 October.

Man Throws Incendiary Devices Before Found Dead in Car

A lone man hurled crude incendiary devices both outside and inside the immigration centre. Officers soon tracked his vehicle nearby, discovering the suspect dead inside. Two staff members suffered minor injuries during the chaos.

The dead man has been named as 66-year-old Andrew Leak from High Wycombe.

Search Warrant Uncovers Crucial Evidence

Police executed a search warrant at Leak’s home in High Wycombe on Monday 31 October. They seized digital devices and other items now under urgent examination. Due to the complexity of the evidence, specialist counter-terror officers are leading the probe to uncover the motive.

No Wider Threat—Investigation Ongoing

There’s no indication Leak had any accomplices or that a broader threat exists in either Dover or High Wycombe.

Detective Chief Superintendent Olly Wright, Head of CTPSE, said: “This was a traumatic incident for everyone involved and the wider community. We’re working hard to establish exactly what led to the events on Sunday morning.”

“While Counter Terrorism Policing’s involvement may worry some, I want to reassure the public there is no evidence of any ongoing threat.”

“This was a targeted, hate-fuelled offence. It may not meet the threshold of terrorism. The incident has not been declared a terrorist act but remains under review.”

The investigation continues. Anyone with information is urged to visit the Major Incident Public Portal to report details or upload footage.
