Angry Man Smashes Hospital Doors with Baseball Bat

Fred Robinson, 26, sparked chaos at a Grantham hospital after threatening a nurse and smashing glass doors with a baseball bat. The violent outburst unfolded on the evening of 22 April, outside normal A&E hours.

Verbal Abuse Sparks Violent Rampage

Robinson was on the phone with a family member receiving treatment when he turned abusive around 7.35pm. A nurse stepped in and was threatened with violence before the call abruptly ended.

Hospital Staff Forced to Evacuate Patients

Just 20 minutes later, Robinson arrived at the ambulance entrance, pulled a baseball bat from his backpack, and began smashing the glass doors while shouting and swearing. He also kicked the doors repeatedly. Staff quickly secured the other entrance and moved patients to safety.

Police Use Tasers to End Attack

When officers arrived, Robinson threw the bat at them. They responded with Tasers to subdue and arrest him. A knife was found on Robinson during a search.

Miraculously, no one was hurt during the incident.

Judge Sends Robinson to Prison

Robinson faced Lincoln Crown Court on 27 June where he was sentenced to 14 months for affray. Additional concurrent sentences included 10 months for knife possession, six months for carrying an offensive weapon in public, and two months for criminal damage.
