Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Faversham House Blaze

Early Morning Fire Shakes Faversham

A man has been charged with attempted murder following a fire at a residential property in Faversham. The blaze broke out in the early hours of Thursday, 6 July 2023, in the town centre.

Two victims were rushed to hospital with injuries after the fire, which was reported to Kent Police at 4.05am. Officers quickly attended the scene to support Kent Fire and Rescue crews as they battled the flames.

Suspect Arrested and Charged

Duncan Hornby, 59, was arrested the next day on Friday, 7 July. After review by the Crown Prosecution Service, he was charged with two counts of attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life.

Court Appearance and Next Steps

Hornby made his first appearance at Maidstone Crown Court on Saturday, 8 July. He was remanded in custody and is due back at the same court on 7 August.
