Tragic Police Car Crash Kills Woman on Stockwell Road
At around 11.20pm on Wednesday 9 June 2021, a fatal collision rocked Stockwell Road, SW9. Two police cars were rushing to an emergency call when disaster struck.
One of the patrol vehicles hit Shante Daniel-Folkes, 25, from Norwood, SE27. Despite desperate attempts by officers and paramedics, she died at the scene.
Investigation Launches as Officers Face Charges
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) launched an independent probe, fully backed by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), to uncover exactly what went wrong.
The IOPC then passed the case to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for further action.
Two Officers Charged Over Deadly Crash
- PC Nadeem Patel faces a charge of causing death by dangerous driving under Section 1 of the Road Traffic Act.
- PC Gary Thomson has been charged with dangerous driving under Section 2 of the same Act.
Both officers, attached to the Central South Command Unit, are set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday 17 October. They remain on restricted duties pending the outcome.
