Brutal Bat Attack Outside Southampton Pub Lands Man in Jail
Lewis Kerby, 27, has been slammed with 32 months behind bars after a vicious baseball bat assault outside the Robin Hood pub in Southampton.
Fight Erupts After Midnight
The violent showdown unfolded just past midnight on August 19. A row kicked off inside the pub on South East Road and spilled onto the street. Kerby, from Bursledon, swung a baseball bat at a man in his 30s who was trying to defend his brother.
The victim suffered a fractured skull, forcing emergency surgery. He now carries a large scar and has a metal plate fixed in his head.
Justice Served for Victim
Kerby pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon at Southampton Crown Court on November 22. The judge handed down a hefty 32-month prison sentence.
“This was a serious incident witnessed by many people where the victim was brutally assaulted,” said DC Hayley Channell, who led the investigation.
“One of our priorities in Southampton is keeping people safe in and around our pubs, bars and clubs. Our licensing team works closely with door staff, venues and the council to prevent incidents like this.”
“Offenders can expect a swift response and to be brought to justice, just like in this case.”
