Man Smashes Cars with Baton in Stoke Newington
Police were called at 2.10pm on Monday, 9 January after reports of a man damaging cars with a baton on Trumans Road, near Stoke Newington Road, N16.
Suspect Detained, Suspicious Item Checked
Officers quickly detained the man, who was seen carrying a suspicious-looking item. After assessment, the item was declared harmless.
Mental Health Action and Road Closures
The man was held under the Mental Health Act and taken to an east London hospital for treatment. Roads were closed temporarily as a safety precaution while officers handled the situation.
Not a Terror Threat
Police confirmed the incident is not being treated as terrorism-related.
