Violent Stabbing and Child Rape: Solomon Campbell Sentenced to Long Prison Terms
Solomon Campbell’s violent spree has landed him behind bars for nearly two decades. The 34-year-old from Sneinton stabbed a man in the chest on Liverpool Street, St Ann’s, and was later convicted of multiple child rape charges.
Street Attack Could’ve Been Murder
The drama unfolded on March 6, 2022, after days of heated arguing. Campbell plunged a knife into his 22-year-old victim’s chest before calmly walking away. The man suffered serious injuries but survived.
Police tracked Campbell down despite his attempt to hide his identity. Officers spotted his distinctive tattoos and arrested him.
Convicted Child Rapist Exposed
Campbell faced court on Monday, 20 February, admitting to grievous bodily harm and receiving a three-year prison sentence for the stabbing.
But that wasn’t all. He was also found guilty of raping a schoolgirl multiple times after a brave victim came forward. After a five-day trial, Campbell was convicted of three counts of child rape and inciting child sexual activity.
The judge handed down a hefty 16-year sentence, plus a lifetime sexual harm prevention order and permanent spot on the sex offenders register.
Detectives Praise Victims’ Courage
“Campbell is a violent child rapist who could very easily have ended a man’s life in a senseless street fight,” said Detective Constable Kate Waters, lead on the sexual assault investigation.
“The young victim showed immense courage in reporting the abuse and standing up in court to tell her story. We hope this sentence brings her and her family some closure.”
Detective Constable Daisy Hough added, “Campbell’s stabbing could’ve ended in murder. As he starts his long jail sentence, I hope he reflects on the wreckage he’s left behind.”
“This sends a clear warning: knife crime will not be tolerated, and we will hold offenders accountable.”
