White Stags Shot Dead in Cobham Woods Mystery

Police are hunting a ruthless hunter after two majestic white stags were found shot dead in Cobham Woods near Albatross Avenue. The latest discovery came on Sunday, February 26, 2023, adding to the shock following the first stag’s death on January 20.

High-Powered Rifle Used in Brutal Attacks

The Rural Task Force suspects a high-powered rifle was used to inflict fatal gunshot wounds to the animals’ faces. Officers believe both shootings happened at night in the remote woodland.

Police Warn Public, Seek Witnesses

Rural Crime Co-Ordinator Douglas Robertson warned: “The manner in which they were shot would have caused significant suffering to the animals, and the use of a powerful firearm in a public location poses a high risk to any other person in the area.”

Police are working closely with partner organisations to track down those responsible. They urge anyone who saw suspicious people or vehicles near Cobham Woods around the dates to come forward.
