Elderly man knocked down escalator by teen trolley prank at Asda
An 80-something man was hurt after teenage boys allegedly pushed an empty trolley down an escalator at Asda in Imperial Retail Park.
Shock incident caught shoppers off guard
The scare unfolded between 6.20pm and 6.35pm on Friday, 24 February 2023. The victim was riding the escalator when a trolley was pushed from the top, knocking him all the way to the ground floor.
Victim hospitalised but lucky to escape worse
The man suffered head injuries and cuts to his hands. He later went to hospital as a precaution but his injuries were thankfully not more serious.
Police hunt for three male teens
- Suspects aged between 12 and 16
- One with brown hair wearing grey puffer jacket, black tracksuit and trainers
- Two with black hair, one in all-black tracksuit, the other in all-red
“The elderly victim is fortunate that he did not suffer more serious injuries and we have been trying to identify the teenage boys involved,” said Police Sergeant Andrew Ferguson.
“We urge any shoppers who saw what happened to come forward and help our enquiries.”
