Tragic Hit-and-Run Shuts Down Wandsworth Road

A major London artery is closed both ways after a pedestrian was fatally hit by a vehicle late Monday night. The victim died at the scene, sparking a full police probe.

The horrific crash happened just before 11pm on Wandsworth Road, South West London. Police, ambulances, and the London Air Ambulance rushed to the spot following urgent calls.

Several local bus routes have been diverted, and drivers are warned to avoid the area. The road closure is expected to last for several hours while collision specialists investigate.

Police Appeal for Witnesses After Fatal Hit-and-Run

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 10.49pm on Monday, 20 March to Wandsworth Road SW8 following reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian. A man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been informed and are receiving support.”

The driver fled the scene and police are urgently hunting for the vehicle involved. A crime scene remains in place as detectives piece together what happened.
