Flat Linked to Harassment Locked Down for Longer in Murston
A closure order on a flat in Oak Road, Murston has been extended by Maidstone Magistrates Court. Originally set to last from 26 August to 25 November 2022, the order now runs until 25 January 2023.
Closure Order Extended Over Neighbourhood Threats
The flat was linked to repeated threats and harassment against neighbours. Under the closure order, entering the property is strictly forbidden. Anyone caught breaking the ban faces a fine and up to 51 weeks in jail.
Police Keep Property Locked and Warning Signs Up
Local officers have secured the council-owned flat, ensuring no unauthorised access. A clear sign on the door warns the public it’s a criminal offence to enter.
PC Jamie Spencer of the Swale Community Safety Unit said: “Tackling anti-social behaviour remains an absolute priority for us, as these types of issues can make people’s lives a misery and have a profound negative impact on the local community. An extension of this closure order is therefore an important step to help us prevent any recurrence of the persistent intimidation, threats and verbal abuse that residents living nearby had to previously endure.”
