Meshach Clement-Graham, once seen as charming, revealed his true monstrous nature over time. Like many domestic abusers, he slowly wore down his victim after their 2018 relationship began.
Calculated Abuse Unfolded Over Years
The survivor’s words paint a chilling picture. “You didn’t start off as a monster,” she said. “It was a calculated, dangerously slow and gradual process. You consistently did the one thing you needed to break me, like clockwork.” “You mixed your abuse with sporadic kindness to keep me thinking maybe it wasn’t so bad. You gaslighted me and manipulated me until truth became a lie and a lie became a truth.”
Obsessive Stalking and Harassment
One terrifying night, Clement-Graham bombarded the woman with 80 calls before turning up uninvited at her home. The abuse spiralled back into full force – including relentless messages and stalking her at work, her son’s school, and even friends and family addresses.
Physical Violence and Trauma
Violence wasn’t just emotional. On one terrifying occasion, Clement-Graham strangled the woman until she passed out. When she came to, he stabbed a knife into the bed near her head. She revealed, “I suffer from constant nightmares replaying the last day I suffered at your hands, trying to scream for my life but no sound coming because of your hands around my throat. When I regained consciousness, I begged you to let me call my son to say goodbye.”
Justice Served
Despite her threats to report him in November 2022, Clement-Graham was finally sentenced this week (April 4) to two years and eight months behind bars. The court also slapped on a 10-year restraining order to keep him away from the victim for good.
