A 20-year-old woman was out with a group of friends in the city centre to celebrate a friend’s birthday on March 12.
They were walking across Old Market Square just before 2am when she was punched by a man.
Shakeal Fraser, 25, of Honeywood Drive in Carlton has been arrested and charged with GBH assault.
He is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on May 22.
