Abuser Locked Up for 4 Years After Terrifying Reign of Terror
Michael Hall Sentenced for Shocking Abuse
Michael John Aaron Hall of Faygate Court, Hemlington was jailed for 48 months at Teesside Crown Court on Friday, 21 April. The sentence came after he was found guilty of coercive and controlling behaviour, intentional strangulation, three counts of common assault, and one of actual bodily harm. An indefinite restraining order was also issued against him.
Horrific Abuse Revealed
Hall subjected his victim to relentless physical, verbal, and emotional abuse over a long period. He obsessively monitored her phone and cut off her contact with friends and family. His controlling aggression escalated alarmingly. He strangled her, put her in a headlock, dragged her by her hair, punched her, and even threatened to harm her beloved horses.
Judge Condemns Abuser’s Twisted Mindset
The judge slammed Hall’s “deeply dysfunctional attitude towards women,” saying he treated them like property. The long prison sentence reflects the severity of his crimes.
Police Praise Courage and Urge Victims to Speak Out
Detective Sergeant Holly Grosvenor said: “Firstly, I’d like to pay tribute to the bravery of the victim. After being subjected to Hall’s violence and abuse, it took huge courage to come forward and talk to police. I hope this sentence gives her some justice and a safe space to move on.”
“Nobody should live in fear of violence. North Yorkshire Police will not tolerate abuse and will do everything to bring offenders to justice.”
“If you’re suffering abuse, speak to someone. If you’re not ready to talk to police, agencies like IDAS (Independent Domestic Abuse Services) are ready to help.”
