Streatham Roof Drama Ends Safely After Police Rescue

Streatham was brought to a standstill last night as police scrambled to rescue a person reportedly stranded on the roof of a three-storey building.

Welfare Concern Sparks Emergency Response

Just before 11pm on Friday, officers from the Met Police were called to the junction of Mount Ephraim Road and Streatham High Road. A distressed individual was spotted on the roof, sparking a serious welfare concern.

The rescue mission quickly escalated with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, including a specialist HART team, and London Fire Brigade crews rushing to the scene. A safety cordon was set up at the top of Mount Ephraim Road to keep bystanders away.

Safe Rescue and Road Reopening

After tense talks, officers persuaded the person to come down safely just after 1am on Saturday. They were immediately taken to hospital for care. Roads were reopened shortly after 1.10am, easing the Streatham chaos.
