Monster Groomer Caught at Last in Tower Hamlets Child Rape Case
Jalal Hossain Convicted of Child Rape
A man known as Jalal Hossain, aka Abdul Sottar, has been found guilty of two counts of oral rape of a child under 13. The shocking crimes took place in Tower Hamlets back in 2012. Hossain appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday, 6 October, where he was convicted for these sickening offences.
Grooming and Abuse Exposed After Years
The court heard how Hossain groomed the victim over time, targeting her through multiple visits across Tower Hamlets. It wasn’t until 2016 that the young girl told a family member, who quickly alerted the police. The lengthy investigation unearthed damning evidence and witness testimony, despite the decade-long gap.
Fugitive Nabbed After Phone Number Lead
Hossain had dodged the law by using a false identity for years. But police cracked the case after tracing a phone number linked to him. A swift manhunt ended with his arrest in Kensington on 23 March. Even during police questioning, Hossain denied the charges and refused to admit his identity.
Victim and Witness ID Seal the Deal
In 2023, both the victim and another witness positively identified Hossain, even after more than a decade. On 24 March, he was formally charged while still in custody. Detective Constable Emma Price from the Met Police praised the victim’s courage.
“We hope this conviction brings some comfort to the victim and shows that justice has been done,” said DC Price. “We continue to support survivors and urge others to come forward. The police remain committed to tackling violence against women and girls.”
Jalal Hossain is due for sentencing on Thursday, 7 December, at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
